When I last left you, Michelle, Alex and I had just left Kaysersberg and were en route to explore other gorgeous towns in the Alsacean region of France. Here are some photos from the rest of our day.
| Lots of families out and about |
| Never a shortage of bakeries. I loved the name of this one: Pains Rustiques et de Fantaisie (if they do say so themselves) |
| Very dramatic rooftops |
Michelle and Alex took me to visit one of their favourite French chocolate stores. YUM.
| Chocolate shells. |
| Chocolate bars. |
There were some, uh, interesting forms of chocolate
| Chocolate boobs. |
And some regular ones, too
| Chocolate lollipops in a bowl of chocolate dots. |
Back on the streets...
| Fairytale rooftops |
| Alleyways with stunning views |
I usually refuse to photograph scenes with cars
but this one seemed worth making an exception |
Michelle and I decided that we would enjoy a cup of tea (the temperature had dropped considerably and there was a moderate wind). We found a nice little cafe that had a prominently displayed sign reading "DINE IN & TAKE AWAY" in the window. We thought this would mean that we could easily TAKE AWAY our tea. This was an incorrect assumption.

We went in and walked up to the counter. Employees bustled around us, at first ignoring us completely. Then, some older man (who must have been the owner) arrived looking extremely overwhelmed. Before we could even open our mouths, he held up a hand and said, "Attendez!" meaning "Wait." We waited. He counted money. Michelle and I exchanged nervous glances. "Can we order a tea to take away?" Michelle asked (in beautiful French). He gave us a look indicative of an extremely unreasonable request (i.e. that he personally take a journey to the fields of a distant country to pick fresh tea leaves), thrust a menu at us, and disappeared. Michelle and I selected our tea. We waited. Another employee appeared. "Can we order a tea to take away?" Michelle asked again. This employee looked extremely apologetic and indicated that we would have to ask the boss. We waited some more. A woman appeared (perhaps the boss's wife/the co-owner) and took charge of the situation! She took our order! Then she disappeared. We waited some more.

FINALLY the woman reappeared, brewed our tea, and collected our money. We returned to the streets (triumphant!) to find poor Alex who probably assumed we'd decided to purchase the cafe given how long we'd been gone. Luckily, a self-sufficient man, Alex had kept busy by going off in search of some liquor to bring home.

| SUCCESS! |
With tea/liquor in hand, we wandered back towards the car, stopping for me to take photos of windows along the way.
To end the day in the MOST perfect of all ways, we made a special stop to another French village for AMAZING cheese fondue. That was the entire reason we stopped there. I don't know if anyone else finds this mind-blowing, but we could visit another breath-taking little French town JUST FOR FONDUE, JUST FOR THE HELL OF IT! I was in heaven. I kept announcing this. Luckily Alex and Michelle elected not the throw me out of the car.

| Dusk had fallen |
| Tru luv |
| The little square in front of the restaurant |
Inside, Michelle and Alex consulted the menu
| Decisions, decisions! |
And once we'd made our selection, we sat back to enjoy the wine and ambiance...
And then... THE FOOD ARRIVED!
| asdioajsdiojsiajasio! I was SOOOOOO pumped about this meal! |
Below, I will demonstrate the process of eating delicious, fresh cheese fondue:
| Take fresh bread. Put it on fondue fork. |
| Dip into amazing gooey cheese |
Let the cheese settle. Make sure you are not going
to drip everywhere. Hint: you can never have too much cheese |
| Take a bite and enjoy! |
And of course, naturally, we ended the day with a chocolate and banana tarte flambee. Duh!
| Thing to note in this picture: THE DESSERT IS LITERALLY ON FIRE AT OUR TABLE! |
And also apple fritter with homemade icecream. I was a very happy and full girl!
MERCI MICHELLE ET ALEX!
