Today, I had the distinct privilege of attending the live concert of "Denmark's Justin Timberlake!" Christopher is the biggest teenage heartthrob in Denmark, and (I will have you know) with good reason! At 22 years old, Christopher is definitely a hunk and is very talented. I especially benefited from the fact that almost all of his songs are in English, which made it very easy for me to learn them ahead of time (with Mira's help).
(If you want to see one of my favorite songs, you can find it on YouTube here. I like it a lot because it is a totally different view of women than most American pop music. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aX5zLcg47iI )
With both Hellesen boys out of the house (Kasper left for a school trip to Berlin this morning), Helle, Mira and I bared the rain to head into Copenhagen to a food festival this afternoon. Although we did enjoy the food festival, we were mostly there to see Christopher preform (and judging by the large number of teenage girls with "Chrizz" written on their foreheads, many others were too).

One of the stations at the Festival helped kids (and me)
to learn about flavors and foods. We did a LOT of taste testing |
Here we learned about natural sugar and compared
it to the taste of artificial sugar put in sodas |
| Salt helps enhance flavors! |
This was the only station where I refused to taste something:
"Jeg kan ikke lide tomates" (I don't like tomatoes) haha |
| Our cards, which we turned in for a prize |
| Mira complains that Helle is taking too much popcorn |
We collected our prizes (popcorn with our choice of toppings), which we shared with Helle who had been waiting under our giant, rainbow umbrella. We ventured on and enjoyed chocolate milk, fruits, and then a frozen yogurt station where you selected your flavor, sauce, topping, and serving utensil in the most creative of ways!
| Mira hands our card with our selections to the server |
| Danes in the rain, waiting for fro yo! |
But FINALLY, at 5pm, it was time for the show. Mira and I worked our way into the center/front of the crowd and waited for the star's appearance!
| The second he jumped onto the stage, EVERYONE had a smartphone in the air! Guess it's not just an "american thing" |
| Every article of clothing he shed brought out HUGE shrieks |
| I suddenly felt 16 again.. it was fun! ;-) |
| Hands in the air! |
| You can see the TV screen on the left |
| Mira posts to snapchat! |
I have to say that I had a total blast! He was one of the best live performers I've ever seen, and I will probably be downloading some of his catchier songs on iTunes.
On the way home, we stopped at Danish McDonald's ("as an experiment!") to see whether it tastes any different from American McDonald's. I have to report that, sadly, it is very much the same!
And now, the girls have gone to bed. I stayed up to blog and got caught in Les Meserables on TV... arguably one of the worst movies to watch when trying to blog because A) it is VERY long and B) in Denmark, there are no commercials on TV so there was no time for me to break away. Alas, I enjoyed it and now will finish here! Godnot! Sod godt! :)
ps I tried to post a video from the concert... not the best quality (or my favorite song), but you can see the scene a bit better here.
