UK Getaway: Transition Reflections (7 of 7)

This morning, Mom and I woke up relatively early. We got fresh pastries, she finalized her packing, and then we went to Paddington Station where she caught the Heathrow Express (train to the airport). I got a bit teary as her train pulled away because the exciting (and somewhat terrifying) reality is that the far more demanding and independent part of my UK adventure is beginning. Before I get to that, let me close my stories of our vacation by sharing some highlights:
1. Reconnecting with old friends
It felt like absolutely no time had passed since we traveled the French countryside.
2. Seeing BEAUTIFUL parts of the country
I visited towns, castles, and Inns that were THOUSANDS of years old!
The foliage, architecture, and history were incredible
3. The food!
Two words: Mindblowingly delicious
4. Spur of the moment adventures
Selfie at Downton Abbey!
5. Bonding with my mom
It's been quite a long time since we've vacationed just the two of us. I am SO grateful that she took the time to do this with me. We will be laughing and reminiscing for years to come
That brings me to the here and now! Having spent the day organizing, blogging, and relaxing, it’s time for me to get into independent mode. Mostly, everything is currently in transition, so I feel extremely unsettled. I’m still looking for a place to live. I have a million things I know I should be working on to prepare for graduate school applications. Tonight, I am feeling quite lonely (the only downside to having had my mom here for the first part of this trip). However, I've just talked with a friend from home who reminded me just how much I wanted and worked for this trip to happen. I know it will be worth the effort.

much love,
sara
