Girls' UK Getaway: Welcome to London (1 of 7)

Well, as of 1pm, my girls' getaway has officially ended :-( The past week has been absolutely fabulous and I have tons of stories to share. In an effort to make it through everything, I am going to use my new photo/caption technique. After the next 6 posts of vacation updates, I will be ready to begin "normal" blogging (i.e. trials and tribulations of daily work and life in London). Right now I'm mostly facing trials, but I will get to that later. With that, I present to you, our vacation!
SUCCESS! Exactly one week ago (last Sunday), we made it safely through immigration and collected our bags. Here, mom sits enjoying a beer with my bags. I may have slightly overpacked...
We got to Janet's house (where we were spending the night and storing my stuff while we traveled). In this photo, mom peered out the downstairs window and announced, "Hmm, there's someone standing right outside our window. Oh wait, that's my reflection!"
The next morning, we went in search of a hardy breakfast. We explored markets, shopping streets, and supermarkets. We came across this gorgeous church. London most certainly is a grand city!
On our way back to the flat... you can see Tower Bridge in the distance (on the left) and the Shard on the right
We had absolutely PERFECT weather over the entire trip! Here, many locals are sunning themselves in a park by the Tate Modern as the work day ended.
Mom had one wish for her first full day in London... tea and scones on Janet's rooftop patio.
Fresh scones, clotted cream, preserves, and tea
YUM!
After exploring central London for 1.5 days, we were ready to begin Phase 2 of our trip... on Tuesday afternoon, we met my childhood friend, Marianne, at Charing Cross and boarded a train to Canterbury! (To be continued...)
