Saturday was a very busy day, and because I'm already WAY behind on my blogging, I am going to share our adventures via photos and captions.
| Started the day with DELICIOUS Danish breakfast... |
We had fresh breads (of a totally different breed than are available in the US), and of course also enjoyed INCREDIBLE pastries! |
| Enjoying our meal... at the end, I honestly thought I would never be able to eat again! |
| Mom and I then took my old commute into the city. We walked past my school and towards to main harbor. On the way, we came across a really cool Italian market |
| Spices |
| Sun dried tomatoes |
| We continued on down the main shopping street, popping into a few stores (mom got some cute souvenirs) |
| Finally, we arrived at Nyhavn, the main harbor... GORGEOUS! |
| Selfie at the harbor! |
| We walked on to the Royal Palace... |
| And to an old church (which marked the entrance to one of my favorite parks). We didn't have time to go through it because we had to return to Nyhavn in order to.... |
| Meet up with the Hellesens! Here, mom enjoys a beer and sandwich |
| Mira and I pose for a picture |
| We pose with the tallest man on earth... Mira and Helle are clearly more closely related to him than mom or I |
| The city was alive and full of activity |
| Beautiful sidestreets on the way to... |
| TIVOLI GARDENS!!!! An INCREDIBLY theme park right, smack in the middle of downtown Copenhagen. You would never believe the magic inside of the gates. |
| We walk in and prepare for an evening of fun |
| It was completely filled with Danes sunning themselves and waiting for live music, dancing, and performances to begin |
| Gorgeous. |
| Tons of families were out and about enjoying one of the lasts weekends the park is open this season |
| Helle and Mom waited with Lars while Kasper, Mira and I went off to ride a roller coaster |
| Mira and I enjoy the swings that give you an incredible view of the entire city! |
| Marching band came through the gardens... |
| Bumper cars (called Radio Cars for an unknown reason)... you can see Mira hitting me as I drive towards Kasper |
The three of us also rode the Gold Tower... Kasper's goal was to keep a totally calm expression the whole time ...sadly, he failed! |
| The second drop... |
| In addition to the rides, there are GORGEOUS gardens, castles, ships, watermills, and more (even peacocks!) |
| As evening fell, we started to look for a place to eat. We found somewhere that looked promising, but waited, and waited, and waited and waited... |
| We considered taking someone else's reservation card, but couldn't make out the name clearly enough... ;-) |
| It was totally worth it in the end! We had a delicious meal with a hilarious waiter |
Later, to amuse ourselves, we played pictionary. Lars won the award for most creative drawing... |
| This was Lars' HORSE... hahahaha |
| As we left the Gardens... magical! |
